Mavericks Bowling Club was created back in the mid 70's. I
n the beginning, Charles Towell, an 180+ bowler, experienced
the same problem as all bowlers experience and that is to get
other bowlers to bowl with you. Instead of running away from
the problem, Charles decided to do something about it.
He put together 10 females and 10 male bowlers and started hitting the
tournament circuit. During the next couple of years, these 20 bowlers would travel from place to place, bowling from tournament to tournament and catching the attention of other bowlers. In 1980, Charles Towell, was approached by several bowlers, inquiring into joining. Charles Towell was also approached about match games play and setup a match game with The EBONY BOWLING CLUB. Through them, Charles was introduced to the RAIDERS BOWLING CLUB out of Baltimore, Maryland, whom are a part of the ICBC organization and wanted to bowl a match game. Match Games are consist of 30 bowlers, 18 Males and 12 Females. This meant more bowlers for Charles to find and he did. And the rest is History! |
