YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

PURPOSE
This award is presented to recognize individuals writing skills.
AWARD
Individuals selected will receive a U.S. SAVINGS BOND.
Individuals the age of 18 to 21 will be allowed the cash option.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants who satisfy the following criteria.
- Must resides within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (includes District of Columbia, Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, Arlington and Fairfax Counties, and jurisdictions contained within these counties), and Balitmore, MD. metropolitan area (includes Baltimore City, Baltimore County and jurisdictions contained within these counties).
- Candidiates must be at least 9 years old and no older than 21.
- Full-time student at an educational school program (Elem., Junior or Senior High School, college or university) located within the United States.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit an essay on one of the following Theme's. The essay paper should be no more than two (2) pages, 8" x 11 1/2" (standard) in size.
- What makes a solid relationship between children and parents.
- How is the accomplishment of an important African American, impacting your life.
DATES
The Application and all supporting materials must be completed and received by the ICBC's Scholarship committee during the period of March 1, 1999 through March 31, 1999.
Entries postmark by March 31, 1999, will be accepted.
Recipients of the Scholarship Award will be notified on or before April 30, 1999.
The award shall be presented by the Inter Council Bowling Club at an appropriate ceremony.
PLEASE NOTE:
- All applications and supporting material become property of ICBC.
- An application may be disqualified if it does not follow the established procedures.
JUDGING
Judging committee shall be comprised of at least five people.
