The Mavericks Bowling Club is a club with a strong history and an even stronger
direction for the future. Founded over 20 years ago by Charles "Fly" Towell,
the Mavericks' achievements began in 1982 when the original five Maverick
Ladies won the Virginia State Tournament and the Ladies Team Division of the
Hoinke Classic. This spirit of achievement continues today with Maverick Kenny
Lowe winning the VSMBT scratch event at Country Club Lanes in January, 2004 and
and winning the North Carolina Regionals in 2006.
The Mavericks compete regularly in ICBC matches and regional tournaments with
an eye toward expanding our presence in other tournaments. We regularly have a
presence in the Colonial Williamsburg Mixed Tournament, TNBA Eastern Regional
tournament in New Jersey, and the TNBA National event which changes locations
yearly. Our plans include possibly adding the Glenn E. Bair tournament in
Hanover, Pennsylvania, the Hoinke Classic in Cincinnati, Ohio and the Turtle
Bowling Club tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
Maverick members are of all age
ranges and experience levels, all with one goal. MAKING OUR CLUB THE BEST!!!!
Any bowler who desires the same thing should contact any Maverick member and
ask about membership. The requirements are simple
1. Men must average at least 175, women at least 160.
2. You must be an USBC member in good standing.
3. You must really want to bowl your best every time you bowl.
That's it!! Come on and enjoy the competitive environment with people you want
to be around.
