The United Way of Frederick County, Inc. Allocations Committee is looking for volunteers to serve on its Citizen Review Panels. This is a very important volunteer group because of the programmatic and financial reviews conducted and extremely important to the agencies because of the recommended funding allocations the Review Panels provide.

To those of you who served last year or in previous years, the United Way's sincere thanks. To those of you considering serving for the first time, others will tell you it is a rewarding and eye-opening experience. The time you spend with agencies will allow you to get to know them better and gain a broader understanding of life in Frederick County.

Each panel will be assigned three agencies to review. Each Agency will be visited twice during the year, once in the fall for a program intro- duction and once in the winter for a financial and alloction request review. Visits generally last an hour or so. The panel then reconvenes to make its final reports and recommendations. The average panel member spends approximately 10 hours total to provide this valuable service.

If you are interested in serving as a Citizens Review Panel member, call Fran Palmer at 301-663-4231 by September 11th. An orientation meeting will be held September 24th at 4:00 p.m. You will be notified of the meeting place in the near future.
