Road Rage Section
In the bowling world the most important thing we do is travel from place to place to bowl.
One of the things we as bowlers hate to admit to is we are always running late to get somewhere.
So here we are going 90 miles an hour to get somewhere fast.
This will cause some Road Rage from time to time. In order to deal with it,
I have placed a few rules or suggestions for you to try the next time Road Rage raise its
ugly head.
I believe the most important thing to remember is that
"KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY".
Remember the Rabbit and the Turtle race? Well, quess what, I have found out that the Turtle wins every time!
Here is what I believe to be the equation for Road Rage. If you think about it, accidents are the result of a chain reaction.
It kind of reminds me of roller skating. An action to an action = reaction.
An action to the reaction = Road Rage. Remember, it takes two to tango!
At this point, I would like to give you a couple of pointers on how to avoid Road Rage in your travels but first let setup up some ground rules.
- The lanes are given numbers. The left lane is number 1 and the next lane to its right is number 2, and so on...
- So, for example, on the 495 beltway, you have 4 lanes....1,2,3,4. Lane one is the far left and lane 4 is the far right and then you have the middle two.
- We will call them - Left lane middle and Right lane middle
We all are in a hurry to get somewhere. Let just think about the reasons why. One reason could be because a love one is in trouble.
But of course, the main reason in most cases, is that we are just late going somewhere.
- First of all, let the other person get by.
We do not own the road and if someone should get into trouble why should it be you!
- Never give anyone the satisfaction that they upset you.
I personnel will continue to push that button if I know where it is.
- Think about it first!
If you are driving in lane 1, and going lets say 60 miles an hour and someone else is coming up behind you, then let them get by.
You should do this for several reasons:
- First, because you don't know the reason why they are in a hurry.
A love one could have been just be taken to the hospital and they are trying to get there or they are just late.
- Second, the rules of the road is that you must pass on the left side not the right side.
A policeman can give you a ticket if you are passing cars from the right side.
It's probably because the roads are so crowded that they don't.
- If you are not keeping up with the traffic, then you are holding up the traffic.
Remember, we do not own the road!
Now let me give you an example of Road Rage.
- Lets say for the sake of argument that you just receive your daughter or son's report card and now driving to work.
Someone in front of you decided to hit their brakes and you determine that the nearest car is 4 car lengths away.
Now you must make a decision. Should you get mad at that person or are you going to be strong enough to say,
I will not give them the satisfaction of knowing you were mad.
Action to an action. If you take any action, then that becomes a reaction.
Once you have done this, then you need to be ready for what will come next.
ROAD RAGE! ! !
- Here's another one. Lets say you are in lane 2 and you are ready to pass the car in front of you,
but for some reason the car in lane 1 keeps increasing their speed every times you put your blinkers on...
What should you do?
Should you get in front of the car in lane 1 and slow down or just wait until the next opportunity comes by?
I would recommend, the next opportunity.
For the simple fact the driver, once they pass you will not remember you.
Think about the rabbit and the turtle.
So, lets keep your eyes on the road and look out for the other guy!
If you can think of one you would like to see added,
just give us an email and let us know.
