February 06, 1999 Mavericks Bowling Club, on a three(3) games winning streak is now poised to take on one of the top ICBC club at AMF KINGS POINT. Mavericks currently has a 4 - 3 record against ICBC clubs. The Poets in the first confrontation won that match in what was a low scoring but close match. |
This match games started out no different that the other ones, with both side rolling big games and going toe to toe with each other but the POETS when the dust cleared was out in front by 467 pins with four(4) out of six(6) teams, shooting 10's, for a 6043 total. Mavericks with only 2 teams able to post 10's, finished the first game for a 5576 total.
The next game, Mavericks managed to have three(3) teams shooting 10's but the POETS showing no signs of weakness continued to bowl well held on and increased their lead by 86 pins. In this round of bowling, one of the POETS finest Female bowler (Janeen Morgan) started off with the first 10 strikes and ended up with a fine 288 games. Hats Off! to you Janeen.
The Mavericks now down by 553 pins still had an outside chance of winning (If all teams beat their teams by 100 pins) was now passing the word around... but can up short, big time. Losing the match by 827 pins.
Jerry Paige of the Mavericks finish strong by rolling a nice 290 games. His had games of 205, 268, 290, for a total set of 763. Oliver Collins of the Poets, ended up with a 721 set.
The Mavericks Bowling Club would also like to welcome a new associate member (Karla Jarmon). In her first outing bowled a high game of 220 and ended with a 579 set. Nice Bowling...!
